10 Writing Prompts for Chronic Pain

Beauty, your body speaks your mind.

Physical pain isn’t always a sign that something is wrong, but it is definitely an attempt to gain attention and communicate something.

Our job is to simply learn—or remember—how to listen.

There is so much interplay between mind, body, and energy.

By exploring the many layers of physical, emotional, and energetic pain this is where mindfulness, nature, and creative writing can help uncover some powerful insights as we learn how to trust and distill messages from the body.

The thing is, chronic pain is continually stimulating the nervous system which detects, sends and receives pain signals, and by constantly stimulating these pathways, it literally changes the structure of the nervous system, making it more active and over sensitive over time, the more these pain signals fire.

AND let’s go ahead and acknowledge that it can feel truly difficult to turn toward you body when you are in the midst of a flare up and hurting. If you’ve ever dealt with physical pain due to an emotional or energetic issue you know exactly what I’m talking about.

There is more and more research coming out about the benefits of targeted writing modalities and returning to ancestral diet and lifestyle practices (working directly with plants and to support optimal well-being, of body, mind, and soul.

Not only is writing powerfully healing but you will also develop a literal written record of your journey, helping highlight triggers, patterns, and the process itself.

The truth is we’ve each been given one temple, one vessel to carry us through this lifetime and it may be our one sole task to caretake our being so that we can bring our unique gifts to a world that is very much in need of healthy individuals.

Today, I’m sharing some specific prompts you can use to explore the interplay of emotions, energy, and physical pain. My best advice is to stay open, give these a chance, and begin to rebuild the bridge of communication with your body and what it is needing most from you.
